The LGBT Community Center of New Orleans is excited to announce that we have joined the statewide coalition Equality Louisiana (EQLA)!
EQLA is a coalition of LGBT and allied organizations from all over Louisiana. They are committed to full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. They have local and statewide advocacy initiatives to implement policy that improves the lives of LGBT people. They hope to build a movement for equality in Louisiana, and work with coalition members to do just that.
We are joining other organizations in the Greater New Orleans area including New Orleans Pride, PFLAG of Greater New Orleans, and UNITY at UNO among others. We are thrilled to be a part of the statewide effort to push forward LGBT equality be addressing multiple issues that adversely affect our community. During the most recent legislative session, EQLA focused on employment non-discrimination, fair housing policies, education access, and support for homeless families. We hope that our partnership with EQLA will increase the visibility of New Orleans LGBTQ issues in statewide politics and will keep our constituents more informed on what is going on in Baton Rouge and across the state.
