Policy 402 protects LGBT from profiling, discrimination, harassment by the New Orleans Police Department. This means that, among other protections,
- Officers are barred from using any derogatory language regarding or towards LGBT people
- Officers must address individuals using their chosen name and pronoun
- Officers shall not subject transgender individuals to more invasive or more frequent frisk procedures due to actual or perceived gender identity.
